Fritz Blasius
Dealer Principal
Blasius Chevrolet Cadillac, Waterbury, Connecticut
Fritz Blasius, Vice President of Blasius Chevrolet Cadillac in Waterbury, CT, was recently honored as the 18th recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige Award, the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s highest award. Named for a former Connecticut resident and Secretary of Commerce in the Reagan administration, it’s given to the individual who, like Malcolm Baldrige, has dedicated themselves to volunteerism and improving the local economy.
Though he’s been involved in many charitable activities over the years, Blasius is best known for his continuing support of Saint Mary’s Hospital as well as the leadership role he played in helping get the Police Activities League up and running. “His fingerprints are all over the entire community,” says co-chairman of the selection committee Carmen Anthony Vacalebre. “He’s a good man, a good citizen and he exemplifies the Malcolm Baldrige spirit. We’re very proud to have him join the ranks.”
“I was humbled. I really was,” says Fritz. “I was very surprised and very flattered. Especially when I thought about some of the people who have won the award. It’s a big honor to have your name associated with a group like that.”
